Omari is one of the smartest 11 year olds I know, but his life has been very different compared to his peers. Omari was diagnosed with epilepsy and autism at a young age, and his true strength and faith was tested after he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018. He has endured numerous rounds of chemotherapy, various treatments, emergency room visits, extended hospital stays, and trips to St. Jude. The most amazing part of it all is he maintained the honor roll and an infectious smile throughout his treatments. On December 17, 2020 Omari was finally able to “Ring the Bell” signaling the end of his chemotherapy treatments. This was the best early birthday gift he could receive, as it occurred just 9 days before he turned 11. While his chemo treatments have ceased, his battle is far from over. Omari is currently at St. Jude for follow-up appointments, and his stay may be longer than anticipated. His mother has covered nearly all of their travel expenses, and so much more, since his treatment began. As you can imagine, she has experienced moments where she could not work, due to his health, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the financial hardship.
We are a community who comes to the aid of those in need, and their need could not be more evident! ALL proceeds will go directly to Omari’s family to assist with basic needs and expenses. Thank you so much for supporting this loving child and the loving family that has worked so hard to support him. Let’s paint our city Orange for Omari.
